Jamie Payne

Musical Director

Jamie Payne was appointed Musical Director in 2018 and continues to share his love of Musical Theatre with the company.

Jamie gained his music degree from the University of Southampton, specialising in performance (trombone and ensemble), conducting and commercial composition. He has played for over 50 shows across the UK, including West End favourites such as Miss Saigon, Les Miserables, Annie and Singing in the Rain. Although trombone is his main instrument, Jamie is skilled within other instrument families including woodwind, brass and keyboard instruments.

Alongside shows, Jamie plays freelance with Jazz Bands, Function Bands, Orchestras and in Brass Ensembles; he’s no stranger to the studio either, recording with the BBC Symphony Orchestra at Maida Vale Studios and providing tracks for various groups and bands nationwide.

Jamie resumes a Musical Director role after a short hiatus in which he undertook a Leadership in Education masters degree to support his current role of Teacher and Head of Maths at a Leicestershire primary school. Previously he could be seen wielding the baton for successful shows including Evita, Little Shop of Horrors and Made in Dagenham.
